About Graeme

My name is Graeme. This is my ninth year playing the violin, and I have had the same teacher for the whole time. My violin teacher is Liz Arbus and she is an amazing teacher. She always knows just what to say to inspire me to practice more and work harder!

Every year on New Year's Day, I make a violin goal for myself. My goal for 2007 is to get to the end of Suzuki Book 7 by the end of the year!

Next year I will be able to audition for the Strings Orchestra of the Youth Symphony—I hope that I will be asked to join them!

Hobbies

Reading, electronics, chess, bicycling. rock climbing, and playing with my dog, Kokanee. I love playing sports, and have been playing soccer and baseball for seven years. My favorite authors are J. K. Rowling and Christopher Paolini (he wrote Eragon and Eldest).

Anything New since you won Student of the Month in February?

When I first wrote my biography for you for the Student of the Month, I told you that I was planning to audition for the Pasadena Symphony Youth Orchestra's Prelude Strings Orchestra. That was my first audition. I was nervous, but the conductors, Mrs. Kubota and Ms. Lim, were really nice and my audition went really well! I did get into the orchestra and they even asked me to be the concertmaster! We start rehearsals in October and I am so excited! I've already memorized the first pieces we'll be working on!

I also took a musical theater class at the end of the summer. I have always loved theater and I love to sing, but this was the first acting class I've taken. The music director for the class chose me and 2 other boy sopranos to go to a recording session for the soundtrack for the movie Terra. It will be released in the spring, and my voice will be on the soundtrack! It was really cool and we got paid $75!

The musical theater teacher for the class is also the director for a production of Narnia that will play at the Sierra Madre Playhouse from Thanksgiving weekend until Christmas. She asked me to play the role of Edmund in the musical! Of course, I said yes! I am really excited to start rehearsing. This fall is going to be a really musical time for me!

Favorite Songs to Play

Allegro by Fiocco and my favorite composers are Carl Bohm and Antonio Vivaldi.
